Welcome to ElectricAfterlife v2.0 Now with 60% more fiber!
Last spring I launched v0.1 of Afterlife on neocities.org it was a personal experiment to see if I could hand code a site old school. I was extremely rusty not having touched bare HTML since the v3 days. Still it was a lot of fun and W3 has some fantastic guides and YT and Discord were lifesavers.
As the site grew however I ran into some frustrations that would become really irksome. Manual image galleries are not fun to work with. The static nature of Neocities hosting also limited some experiments I wanted to mess with. Anyway I still love Neocities and plan to spin up a .com of this site over there to keep messing with HTML for fun.
As for this site, I decided to start from the ground up in WordPress. I chose IONOS as host and spun up a WP site. I wanted to stick to the retro roots of the v0.1-v1.9 versions on nc but without some of the headache. I found a cool theme that was originally an April fools joke and ran with it. Its been forever and a decade or two since I last tried blogging but being back on WP kinda makes me want to give it another go. We shall see.
